The 2nd Self-Paced Online Training on Resource Description and Access (SPOT on RDA) is on 29 September to 29 November 2023. This training was designed to allow learning at the participant’s own pace. It is accessible through a learning management system (LMS) and will run for eight (8) weeks or two (2)months from 29 September to 29 November 2023. It has five (5) module courses on IFLA LRM and RDA, MARC21, recording attributes of manifestations and items, identifying works and expressions and creating authorized access points and understanding relationships and authority records. Participants will learn from the three renowned cataloging experts in the country: Ana Maria B. Fresnido (Director of Libraries, DLSU(2006-2017), Annelyn C. Lim (Head of Manila Office, U.S. Library of Congress (2018-Present), and Prof. Mark Anthony A. Santos (Faculty & College Secretary, UPSLIS)
It aims to build the capacity of Filipino librarians in cataloging using the RDA standards. Librarians will master how to shift from AACR to RDA. The course was developed not just for catalogers but for all library and information professionals and practitioners who are interested in studying RDA. Participants who accomplished the modules and activities will receive five (5) Module Completion Certificates and one (1) Course Completion Certificates with a set number of CPD Points.
This webinar’s specific objectives are to :
- Determine IFLA LRM entities, their respective relationships, and how it relates to RDA.
- Understand MARC21
- Recording attributes of manifestation and item entities using RDA.
- Identifying works and expressions.
- Create authorized access points.
- Understand relationships and attribute records.
- Apply RDA as the cataloging standard in their respective libraries.
