The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) is pleased to announce that the virtual research colloquium, originally scheduled for September 15, 2025, will now be held on October 10, 2025. The event will carry the theme “Innovating for Impact: Research, Technology, and the Future of Academic Libraries.”
Theme
The theme of the research colloquium, “Innovating for Impact: Research, Technology, and the Future of Academic Libraries,” focuses on the evolving role of academic libraries in the digital age. It explores how research and emerging technologies are transforming library services, resources, and infrastructure to better meet the needs of modern scholars and students. This theme emphasizes the importance of innovation in library practices, ranging from data management to digital access, and considers how libraries can harness technology to enhance learning, foster collaboration, and promote academic success. Key discussions will revolve around the future of libraries as hubs of knowledge and innovation, ensuring they remain essential in supporting research, teaching, and community engagement in the coming years.

Submission Guidelines
Interested authors should observe the following instructions:
1. An informative (extended structured) abstract of 1000-1200 words must be written in English and submitted as a Word document. The abstract should include the following (see attached template)
- Paper Title: 14pt (bold upper and lower case)
- Author’s name and affiliation: 12pt (bold upper and lower case)
- Purpose/objectives of the paper
- Significance of the study and originality of the paper
- Design, methodology, approach
- Results and discussions (if available already)
- Research limitations and implication/s, if applicable
- 3-5 keywords separated by semicolons
- About the author/s, including name/s of author/s and presenter/s, position or title of presenter/s, affiliation of presenter/s, email address, and short biographical note (not exceeding 200 words).
2. Submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure that the authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers.
3. The abstract should be prepared using the guidelines and must be submitted with the subject [ABSTRACT SUBMISSION] 2025 PAARL Research Colloquium to paarl.resjournal@gmail.com on or before 31 July 2025.
4. Submission of a full paper is required and must be submitted on or before 19 September 2025.
5. The full paper, with a maximum of 10,000 words, must be written in English and submitted as MS Word document (*.doc or *.docx).
6. The full paper must be formatted as follows (Download the template here):
a. Default font (Main body): 12pt, Times New Roman
b. Default line spacing: single-spaced, justified text
c. Paper title: 14pt (Bold Upper and Lower Case)
d. Author’s name, affiliation, abstract, keywords: 12pt (bold upper and lower case)
e. Page size: Letter-size (8.5”x11”)
7. Submissions will be evaluated using the following criteria:
a. Relevance to the practice of Philippine Academic Librarianship
b. Significance of the research topic/problem
c. Originality
d. Quality, soundness, credibility of the theoretical/conceptual framework/ and or research paradigm/methodology
e. Quality of findings and recommendations
8. Accepted submissions will be presented at the research colloquium. Additionally, accepted papers may also be eligible for the 2025 PAARL Best Research Awards to be presented at the Association’s Annual General Assembly and Awarding ceremonies in January 2026.
