The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) is happy to announce its call for research papers for the 2023 PAARL Research Journal. The theme for this issue is RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT (RDM).

This thematic issue aims to gather articles, studies, practices, commentaries, and other related papers about the theory and practice of RDM in the Philippines or by Philippine LIS Professionals.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Research papers to be submitted must be in line with the theme and should fall under one or more of the following subject areas:

• Data Publication and Sharing (i.e., metadata standards, interrelated to databases and data policies, research data facilitators, library activities/involvement, delivering guidance, tools, and services)
• Data Reproducibility
• Research Data Repositories (e.g., research communities, repository providers)
• Data Management (e.g., Access and Use, Archiving and Preservation)
• Data Organization and Storage
• Data Publication and sharing
• RDM Ethics
• Quality Assurance
• Data Services

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. The full paper, with a maximum of 10,000 words, must be written in English and submitted as a MS Word document (*.doc or *.docx).
2. The full paper should include, at the minimum, the following contents (see also attached template):
   a. Purpose/objectives of the paper
   b. Significance of the study
   c. Design, methodology, approach
   d. Findings
   e. Research limitations and implication/s, if applicable
   f. Statement of originality of the paper
   g. 3-5 keywords
   h. About the author(s), including name(s) of author(s), position or title of author(s), affiliation of author(s), email address, telephone, short biographical note (not exceeding 200 words).
3. The full paper must be formatted as follows (see also attached template):
   a. Default font (Main body): 12pt, Times New Roman
   b. Default line spacing: single-spaced
   c. Paper title: 14pt (Bold Upper and Lower Case)
   d. Author’s name, affiliation, abstract, keywords: 12pt (Bold Upper and Lower Case)
   e. Page size: Letter-size 8.5”x11”
4. The full paper must be submitted with the subject “[Paper Submission] 2023 PAARL RESEARCH JOURNAL” to paarlbod@gmail.com on or before 30 October 2023. Contributions will be double-blind peer reviewed. Authors of accepted papers must complete the PAARL Authors’ Permission Form (to be given later).
5. Submissions will be evaluated using the following criteria:
   a. Relevance to the practice of Philippine Academic Librarianship
   b. Significance of the research topic/problem
   c. Originality
   d. Quality, soundness, credibility of the theoretical/conceptual framework/ and or research paradigm
   e. Quality of findings and recommendations

Interested authors should take note of the following important dates:
• Submission of full paper: 30 October 2023 17 November 2023 (Friday)
• Notification of acceptance: 15 December 2023 (Friday)
• Final submission of revised papers: 31 January 2024 (Wednesday)
