The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) is pleased to announce its upcoming Virtual Research Colloquium, scheduled on 23 October 2026, with the theme: The Research L.E.N.S.: Libraries Empowering New Scholarship.
GUIDELINES FOR THE CALL FOR PAPERS
PAARL invites Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, educators, students, researchers, and other information professionals to submit original research papers for presentation at the 2026 PAARL Research Colloquium.
Authors of accepted papers will be invited to present their research during the colloquium. Submitted papers will undergo double-blind peer review by the PAARL Research Journal Editorial Board and may be considered for publication in the PAARL Research Journal (PRJ), subject to the journal’s editorial and publication requirements.
Submission Requirements
- The full paper must be written in English.
- The submission must present original research and should not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted for publication elsewhere.
- Authors must use the prescribed template (Word document). The template link is provided here.
- Each author may serve as the primary author of only one (1) submitted full paper.
- Authors may serve as co-authors on additional submissions.
Peer Review
- All submitted papers will undergo double-blind peer review by the PAARL Research Journal Editorial Board.
- Papers will be evaluated based on relevance to the colloquium theme, originality, research rigor, clarity, significance of findings, and contribution to the LIS profession and research community.
- Authors will be notified of the results of the review.
- Authors may be requested to revise their papers based on the reviewers’ comments.
- Acceptance for presentation at the colloquium does not automatically guarantee publication in the PAARL Research Journal. Publication will be subject to the journal’s editorial policies, peer-review requirements, and final editorial decision.
Originality and Ethical Considerations
- Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions:
- Are original works of the authors;
- Properly acknowledge and cite all sources;
- Comply with applicable research ethics and data privacy requirements;
- Have secured the necessary permissions or clearances when applicable; and
- Do not contain plagiarized or previously published material.

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
Accepted papers must be presented during the 2026 PAARL Research Colloquium on 23 October 2026 via Zoom.
Each accepted paper will be allocated:
20 minutes – Research Presentation
10 minutes – Question-and-Answer / Panel Discussion
Presenters are expected to observe the allotted presentation time and focus on the most significant aspects of their research, including the research problem, objectives, methodology, key findings, and conclusions.

RESEARCH THEMES AND SCOPE
Submissions should contribute to the broad theme of Impact, Productivity, and Visibility in Library and Information Services. Papers may address, but are not limited to, the following areas:
Impact
- Measuring the impact of library services on research outcomes
- Library metrics and evidence-based research support
- Assessing research impact for accreditation and institutional reporting
- Libraries’ role in improving research quality and performance
- Evaluation frameworks for library-supported research initiatives
Productivity
- Library services enhancing faculty and graduate research productivity
- Optimizing research workflows through library support
- Access to scholarly resources and its effect on research output
- Research consultations and capacity-building programs
- Libraries supporting timely and high-quality research production
Visibility
- Bibliometrics, altmetrics, and research impact indicators
- Institutional repositories and open access strategies
- Improving research discoverability and citation performance
- Library-led scholarly communication services
- Research profiling and institutional research visibility
