2026 Marina G. Dayrit Memorial Lecture Series (MGDMLS)
The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) invites you to attend its seminar-workshop titled “LEADComm: Leadership through Advanced Communication” to be held on 28 August, and 4 September 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the 14th Floor Philippe Jones Lhuillier Conference Room, The Learning Commons, 14F Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University, Manila.
The MGDMLS is one of the longest-running lecture series offered to professional librarians and LIS students in the Philippines. For 2026, the main theme of the series will focus on Advanced Communication for Transformative Leadership in Libraries. As library leadership requires a unique balancing act: advocating to boards, managing diverse teams, handling sensitive community relations, and navigating rapid technological shifts, this program develops the advanced communication capabilities required to lead confidently across these competing demands.
Objectives
By the end of the workshop, the participants are expected to:
- Develop participants’ capacity to provide constructive feedback and establish shared communication practices across multigenerational library staff.
- Strengthen library leaders’ capacity to manage difficult interactions and communicate organizational change effectively through empathetic communication, consistent policy implementation, and transparent stakeholder engagement.
- Equip participants with the knowledge and skills to evaluate library communications through the lenses of equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and to communicate the library’s impact using evidence-based advocacy.
- Enhance participants’ ability to advocate for library resources, communicate organizational priorities, and respond effectively to emerging communication challenges through evidence-based and ethical leadership communication.
