2026 PAARL National Summer Conference

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL), in partnership with Palawan State University, is pleased to announce and invite you to the 2026 National Summer Conference, with the theme: “The Library C.O.R.E. – Compliance, Output, Research, and Evolution: Sustaining Academic Quality and Innovation.” The conference will be held from 15–17 April 2026 at  Best Western Plus The Ivywall Hotel, Rizal Avenue, Brgy. Bancao-Bancao, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

This national gathering aims to provide academic and research librarians with a venue for meaningful discourse, the exchange of best practices, and the enhancement of professional competencies in quality assurance, standards compliance, and institutional development. The event will feature distinguished speakers and experienced practitioners who will lead plenary sessions, workshops, and training activities addressing current and emerging challenges in academic librarianship.

The conference will address the following critical topics:
Topic 1: Accreditation, Standards, and Internationalization in Academic Libraries
Topic 2: Measuring Impact and Institutional Excellence
Topic 3: Governance and Research in the Age of Data and AI
Topic 4: Future-Ready Librarians: Reskilling and Upskilling for 2030
Topic 5: Output & Performance, Monitoring Outputs and Measuring Impact

Registration Fees

NOTE: Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations in Palawan, as this is not included in the registration fee.

2026 PAARL NSC CALL FOR PAPERS

Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, educators, students, and researchers are invited to submit papers for presentation at the 2026 PAARL National Summer Conference (NSC).

  • Measuring the impact of library services on research outcomes
  • Library metrics and evidence-based research support
  • Assessing research impact for accreditation and institutional reporting
  • Libraries’ role in improving research quality and performance
  • Evaluation frameworks for library-supported research initiatives

    Productivity
  • Library services enhancing faculty and graduate research productivity
  • Optimizing research workflows through library support
  • Access to scholarly resources and its effect on research output
  • Research consultations and capacity-building programs
  • Libraries supporting timely and high-quality research production

    Visibility
  • Bibliometrics, altmetrics, and research impact indicators
  • Institutional repositories and open access strategies
  • Improving research discoverability and citation performance
  • Library-led scholarly communication services
  • Research profiling and institutional research visibility

Submission Requirements

  • Submit an extended abstract (max. 500 words, excluding references).
  • The abstract must be written in English.
  • Authors must use the prescribed template (Word document). The template link is provided here.
  • All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review by the PAARL Research Journal Editorial Board.
  • Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection of their submission based on the review results.

    Presentation Guidelines:
  • Accepted papers must be presented during the conference.
  • Each presentation is allotted:
    • 30 minutes for the presentation
    • 10 minutes for Q&A
    • Presentation slides must be submitted in PowerPoint or PDF format.

Benefits for Accepted Papers

  • PHP 10,000.00 presentation grant
  • One (1) complimentary conference registration per accepted paper (applicable to only one author, even for multi-authored papers).
  • Each author may serve as the primary author of only one (1) abstract.
  • Authors may be co-authors on additional submissions.

Publishing in PAARL Research Journal (PRJ)

NSC conference presenters are invited to submit a full paper for peer review to be considered for publication in PRJ.

The important dates for full-paper submissions to PRJ are:

  • Full papers to be submitted to PRJ: 1 August 2026
  • Peer review: September 2026
  • Revision if necessary: November 2026
  • Anticipated publication date: January 2027

In addition, accepted papers may be considered for the 2026 PAARL Best Research Awards, which will be presented during the PAARL General Assembly and Awarding Ceremonies in January 2027.
