Description
The 2025 PAARL National Summer Conference and Training, in partnership with Cebu Institute of Technology – University Libraries, with the theme “Future-Proofing Academic Libraries: Global Leadership & Succession Strategies for the Digital Age,” will be held on April 23-25, 2025 at the Castle Peak Hotel, Cabahug St., Cebu City. It will focus on the expanded role of librarians as leaders, innovators, and strategic thinkers. This event aims to equip librarians with the skills to navigate change and ensure the long-term sustainability of their institutions and the profession at large.
Key discussions will include factors crucial to securing the future of academic libraries, such as strong leadership and effective succession planning. Additionally, the development of leaders who can adapt to rapid technological advancements, foster collaboration, and uphold the values of academic librarianship in a global setting will be emphasized.
The conference will address the following critical topics:
- Strategic Partnerships and Global Collaboration: Fostering professional growth and expanding knowledge-sharing networks.
- Leadership and Succession Strategies: Discussing and establishing clear strategies for leadership continuity.
- Digital Transformation and Innovation in Library Management: Maximizing opportunities to innovate and collectively commit to providing quality service to stakeholders.
Objectives
- To provide attendees with opportunities to enhance their leadership abilities, including succession planning, team management, and decision-making, specifically tailored to the context of academic and research libraries;
- To develop future-ready library leaders by strengthening their strategic thinking, leadership skills, and ability to adapt to the evolving digital landscape;
- To leverage digital innovations and global collaborations to enhance library services, foster professional growth, and expand knowledge-sharing networks; and
- To establish effective succession planning models that ensure leadership continuity and the long-term sustainability of academic libraries.
NOTE: The program has been granted 13.75 CPD points by the Professional Regulation Commission-Board for Librarians (PRC-BFL).
Additionally, the conference is endorsed by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), ensuring the highest standards and recognition in academic Library leadership.
