PAARL goes to Tokyo!

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) will have its International Study tour from 20 to 25 October 2024 in Tokyo, Japan. With the title Explore, Connect, & Immerse in Tokyo’s Library Landscape, this study tour aims to expose PAARL members and other interested participants to the best practices of top libraries and cultural institutions Tokyo.

Participants are invited to join this tour, as it has plenty of experiences to offer, namely:

  • Discover Tokyo’s Library Gems – From historic repositories of knowledge to cutting-edge information hubs, Tokyo’s libraries offer a wealth of inspiration and innovation for librarians seeking to elevate their practice.
  • Benchmark Against Excellence – Explore Tokyo’s leading libraries and cultural institutions and gain valuable insights and best practices to enhance your own library’s collections, programs, and user experience.
  • Immerse in Japanese Culture – From traditional reading rooms to modern multimedia centers, experience the breadth and depth of what the city has to offer!
  • Network and Collaborate – Connect with fellow librarians and build lasting linkages through learning and exchange.

With an all-in price of ₱96,000.00 (or US$1,640.00), participants will get to visit well-known Japanese higher education institutions, libraries, other cultural institutions, and tourist spots. Other tour inclusions are:

  • Registration fee and certificate
  • Twin/Double or Triple Sharing hotel accommodations in 3.5- 4 star basis
  • Roundtrip economy flights via PAL (w/ 2pcs of max 23 Kgs baggage)

This international study tour is open to all PAARL Members, non-PAARL Members, and academic administrators who are interested in knowing the best practices of LIS colleagues in Japan. Those who will join the tour will have an orientation scheduled a week before the tour dates. Participants shall be responsible in securing the necessary travel documents, except for the visa.
