2024 (Inter)National Summer Conference

The 2024 PAARL (Inter)National Summer Conference is set for 23-26 April 2024 at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. Titled Shh…ift Happens: Academic Library Leadership Challenges and Opportunities, this year’s summer conference aims to open discussion around academic and research library leadership, change management, and the imperative synergy between the two to drive innovation and cultivate resilience within the library environment and its broader community. PAARL is proud to partner with Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan University Libraries for this year’s NSC.

UPDATE: This program has been awarded 13 CPD points by the PRC-BFL. Additionally, the Professional Regulation Commission has extended the acceptance of CPD Undertaking for the Renewal of the PIC until 31 Dec 2024.

We have extended invitations to seasoned leaders in the field who will address the following critical topics:

  • Organizational Learning and Organizational Changes in academic and research libraries (i.e., strategic planning, reorganization, culture change, technological change, new roles, etc.)
  • Change Management
  • New approaches to old ideas and launching new library programs or services (i.e., Archives and Special Collections, Information Literacy, Collection Development, Reference & Instruction Services, Technical Services)

Specifically, this program has the following objectives:

  • Provide attendees with opportunities to enhance their leadership abilities, including strategic planning, team management, and decision-making, specifically tailored to the context of academic and research libraries;
  • Explore effective change management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices relevant to academic and research libraries, equipping participants with tools to navigate and lead through periods of transition; and
  • Showcase innovative approaches, technologies, and initiatives that promote the evolution and transformation of academic and research library services, fostering a culture of innovation among attendees.
