4th Marina G. Dayrit Lecture Series
The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) will be holding its 4th Marina G. Dayrit Lecture Series with the theme Collection Assessment for Academic Libraries: Case Studies on September 16, 2016, 9:00 a.m., at Meeting rooms 4 & 5, SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
As academic libraries face budget cuts during these lean years, the need to make careful decisions in subscribing to electronic resources is crucial. To help librarians understand and meet the needs of the users while assuring administrators that the institution’s resources is put into good use, a systematic evaluation of the library’s subscribed databases is necessary. The lecture aims to aid librarians in their conduct of collection assessment. Specifically, it intends to:
- familiarize participants with the different collection assessment techniques;
- develop in the participants a framework of identifying useful data for collection assessment; and
- guide participants in the preparation of collection assessment studies/reports.
Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. Members will be assessed a registration fee of Php300 and Php350 for non-members. Students may avail a discounted rate of Php200.
Please note that the venue can only accommodate a maximum of 150 people so we enjoin all interested to register online at http://tinyurl.com/MGDLS4 to be assured of a seat.
